Freshwater fishing in the Landes
The south of the Landes is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. There are numerous lakes, rivers and ponds close to the campsite for you to indulge your passion. You’ll find plenty of white fish (carp, roach, bream, tench, plaice, etc.) and predators such as black bass, pike and zander.
The most popular fishing spots include l’étang du Turc or the canal de l’Anguillère (Ondres), the river le Boudigau and marais d’Orx (Labenne), the banks of the Nive and l’Adour à Bayonne, the lake marin d’Hossegor or the Gave d’Oloron, near Peyrehorade and Sorde-l’Abbaye, where wild salmon swim upstream to the Pyrenees.
Another option is surf-casting or wave fishing, which you can do by the sea, with your feet in the sand. Head for the Casanova beach in Labenne, as well as the Métro and Digue beaches in Tarnos, to reel in large sea bass, sea bream, bream, sole and turbot.
